Are you ready? November 23rd will be the biggest and most profitable day of the year for the merchants, and the merchants are already getting ready for you to spend as much as you can possibly spend. Why not sit down before or right after the Thanksgiving Holiday and work out a budget of exactly what you have to spend and who you are really going to buy for. Include the children if they are at an age that they will be able to understand. Learning how to budget, and sticking to it will be a great learning experience for them. With times being tight, no one wants to pay for this Christmas until next Christmas, stop and think before you out do yourselves. Shopping with no direction can really get you into hock for a long time. Remember being the caretaker of your family is much more important than going into debt. If you have a lot of people to shop for, make sure you make a budget you can live with, and stick to it.
Our Children are the future, and as we teach them the real meaning of the Christmas Holiday, we want to make sure that they are aware that it is not about getting everything they have asked “Santa” for, but about the gift that was given to us by God on this glorious day. The birth of Jesus was only the beginning of Gods gift to us, as Jesus grew and taught the Word of God, He gave us a gift we can live by, the Word of God. And as the ultimate sacrifice of His death on the Cross for the sins of mankind, He has put the finishing touch on His gift and has given us a way to spend our eternal life right along side Him.
Remember that Jesus is the reason for this season. Every day we hear of a new place where we are not allowed to put our Christmas decorations in public, or even speak of Jesus, but the real spirit of Christmas will never die. Even as we shop in our local stores, the season is geared more toward making money instead of Jesus. Choose carefully the items you share with your loved ones, and let us all continue to spread the real Christmas Spirit - the Birth of Our Savior Jesus Christ.
Keep it about Jesus, and have a Very Merry Christmas!
